For Audit

Review client models faster without missing what matters

Navigate unfamiliar multi-sheet workbooks, trace formula logic to source data, and flag inconsistencies in client-prepared spreadsheets without time-consuming manual inspection.

Your day with Formula Audit XL

1

Reviewing a client-prepared spreadsheet you've never seen

The client sends a 15-tab valuation model the morning of fieldwork. Run Cell Map to see the structure colour-coded at a glance, then use Explore Precedents on the key output cells to understand what drives them. Two minutes rather than thirty. You know which tabs matter before you open a single formula.

2

Tracing a material number to its source

A key figure in the financial statements ties to a cell deep in the model. Trace its precedents through every intermediate calculation to the source data. The full chain is visible on screen, documented and defensible.

3

Testing formula consistency across a large schedule

The client's depreciation schedule runs to 400 rows. Run a consistency check to confirm every row follows the same formula structure. Three rows are flagged as exceptions. Investigated, documented, closed.

4

Identifying hardcoded values in otherwise formula-driven models

During substantive testing, run a check for hardcoded values embedded in formula cells. Several cells contain static numbers where a reference to the assumption sheet is expected. Each one becomes an audit point.

Audit professionals face client-prepared models they didn’t build, under time pressure, with a responsibility to understand the logic thoroughly. The challenge is navigation and verification at scale: tracing formulas, spotting anomalies, and documenting findings across workbooks that may have grown organically over years.

“We review dozens of client spreadsheets every busy season. Being able to map the structure of an unfamiliar model immediately changes what we can realistically cover in a day.”
